My name is Gary Sondergaard. I am the Membership chair of the club and can be reached at the club address info@racinecurlingclub.com if you have further questions. We have several ways for you to come to our club and try the sport we enjoy.
OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN:
Friday, February 26 from 6 PM to 10 PM and Saturday February 27 from 10 AM to 4 PM, we will be having two special Open Houses corresponding with the 2010 Winter Olympics at which you can get free basic instruction. All Open House activities are free.
On four Sundays after the Olympic Open Houses (March 7, 14, 21 & 28) we will be having a special Post-Olympics League for new curlers to try out the skills they learned at the Open Houses. All participants will be new curlers, but we will have experienced “coaches” on hand to instruct and advise. The cost is only $25 dollars, which can be applied toward your dues when you come back in the fall. Currently, dues for the fall/winter session would be $75 after the discount instead of the normal $100 new member dues (subject to change.) Olympic League members are also welcome to attend our Year-end Bonspiel (tournament) and Party in April and to participate, but not vote, at our Annual Meeting in May.
You can also schedule group outings. We have hosted groups from companies, churches, clubs, families and youth groups. We provide USCA certified instruction and hold short game(s). There is a nominal fee. Contact us to arrange a time.
(Our current 2009-2010 season outing openings are booked for the season. Please contact us if you would like to be put on a list for an outing next season, which will begin in November 2010.)
If none of these options fit your plans, contact us and we can usually arrange a one-on-one session with an instructor.
WHEN YOU COME:
You can learn the basics in a half hour. After the instruction, you would be ready to contribute to a team in any league. All you need to bring are clean shoes (court shoes work great) and comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Air temperature on the ice is about 40 degrees. We provide everything else you will need.
You will need to sign a liability waiver (see our “Forms” page) before going on the ice -- minors need to have a parent or legal guardian sign.
WHEN YOU DECIDE TO JOIN: click here for league info
See you on the ice!
